Part 1
Privacy Policy

Qanat is built with privacy and minimalism at its core. The application runs entirely in your browser — nothing leaves your device.

Processing
100% Client-Side
Qanat operates entirely within your web browser. There are no backend servers processing your files.
Data Collection
None, ever
We do not upload, store, collect, or share your images, photo properties, or personal data.
Analytics
Zero Tracking
No intrusive tracking cookies or behavioral analytics. What you do on Qanat stays on your machine.
How a conversion flows
Step 1 · Local

You select an image

JPG, PNG, or JPEG is read directly from your device via the browser's File API.

Step 2 · In-Memory

Encoded in your browser

The file is converted to base64 in RAM using native browser APIs. No network call is made.

Step 3 · Output

You copy or download the result

The output stays local. Closing the tab erases it from memory.

What we do not collect
  • Your images or their content
  • EXIF or photo properties
  • Filenames or file sizes
  • IP addresses or geolocation
  • Device fingerprints
  • Behavioral or analytics events
  • Accounts, emails, or credentials
  • Cookies for tracking purposes
Because Qanat does not transmit your files anywhere, there is no server-side log capable of revealing what you converted. Privacy is enforced by architecture, not by promise.

Commercial Use & Attribution

Commercial use of this content — including integration into paid products, services, or advertising — is permitted only if both of the following conditions are satisfied:

Visible Attribution

Clearly credit the original author (Otan Systems) where the work appears.

Repository Link

Include a direct link to the original Qanat GitHub repository in your documentation or "About" section.

In short: you may ship Qanat — or pieces of it — inside a commercial product, as long as the credit and the repository link travel with it.

Section 3
Authorship & Modification Rules

You may not claim yourself as the author of this content unless you have significantly modified it. Two clear rules govern this:

The 50% Rule
Threshold
> 50% of total volume
Excluding comments — measured in lines of functional code or content.
How it's measured
New lines ÷ Final lines
Count newly added functional lines relative to the total line count of the final version.
Outcome
Re-authorship allowed
Only above this threshold may you present the resulting work as your own.
Copyright notices
Removing original copyright notices or authorship credits is strictly prohibited unless the 50% functional modification threshold is exceeded.
